Guests enjoy easy access to the BH shuttle, taking you to most of downtown shops and attractions (like tours). We are centrally between town and Acadia Park 1.5 miles away. This trip is sure to be an experience to remember as you head offshore into the Gulf of Maine in search of whales and other marine life. The light is a conical granite tower, standing at 119 feet tall, making this the second tallest lighthouse in Maine.

When you arrive, you’ll find a basic bus station with toilets (0.50 leva to use) and a small cafe. We used one of these since we could verify that it wasn’t a scam taxi. This is a great option for families traveling with small children or larger groups. While the cost is significantly more than the public buses, there are many situations where the ease of getting picked up and dropped off trumps the increase in price. When the marshrutka (minibus) pulls up, you’ll get on and pay the driver 1.5 leva in cash. Have extra in case they charge you to store luggage in the back. Our marshrutka didn’t fill all the way up (just almost), and we left Borovets for Samokov exactly on time. If you’ve followed our instructions on how to get from Sofia to Borovets, you’ll find a few things are different when going back to the city.
When other tourists will be leaving the attractions, you will be seizing the chance to explore them in tranquility. After the guided walk (2-3 hrs) you will be taken a local restaurant and have a 3-course dinner. Then watch a spectacle performed by a group of professional Bulgarian folklore dancers. Buses don’t run all night, but the posted schedule was not updated. If you want to leave on a bus for Sofia that leaves after 6 pm, I would double check with your accomodations that the buses will be available when you need one. Note that there are no toilets near the bus stop or on the marshrutka, so make sure you don’t need one during your trip.
This is a two hour tour out of Pigeon Hill Bay to the stunning Petit Manan Island. During this tour, you will also experience the breathtaking views of the Petit Manan Wildlife Refuge and Bois Bubert Island. After the tour, we recommend hiking the boreal forest trails of Petit Manan Wildlife Refuge. This will give you a beautiful view of Petit Manan Island from ashore.
